The west coast of Izu has been selected as one of the 100 best sunset spots in Japan. The Izu Peninsula is also designated as a UNESCO World Geopark, where you can enjoy the natural beauty of the mountains and the sea, including the tombolo phenomenon on Dogashima.

tombolo
"Tombolo", a phenomenon also famous in the French World Heritage site of Mont Saint-Michel, occurs when the sea recedes at low tide and landbridges appear.
The tombolo on Dogashima can be crossed on foot from Sehama Beach (about a 10-minute walk from the hotel) to Sanshiro Island, which is about 200 meters offshore at low tide.
All hotel rooms feature spectacular views of the sun setting over the tombolo.
*The landbridge appears during the daytime from approximately March to September, around high tide.

tensodo
"sky cave" formed from erosion by the waves
Dogashima Tensodo cave (designated as a national natural monument) is located about 5 minutes on foot from the hotel and is considered one of the Izu Peninsula Geopark geo-sites.
Underwater mudslides resulting from underwater volcanic eruptions and pumice and volcanic ash layers that have collapsed on top of the mudslides can be seen, and the beautifully folded white volcanic ash layers are a distinctive feature of Dogashima. The caves are made of tuff and are arranged like a beehive. As the name implies, the caves are brightly lit because the ceilings openings are rounded off to form a skylight, which can be seen from a sightseeing boat
Norihama Beach
Located in the center of the Dogashima area and surrounded by rocks, this is a popular beach for families. Because it is located in a cove, this famous scenic spot features calm waves are calm and clear waters.

Koganezaki Promenade
This 2-km long, 40-minute promenade offers a panoramic views of the area and stunning scenes of golden rock surfaces glittering in the setting sun. Mt. Fuji can be seen from the observatory.

Nishi-Amagi Highland
The plateau overlooks Suruga Bay from an elevation of 750 meters and is covered with lush green pastures. It offers spectacular views of the Southern Alps and Mt. Fuji on clear days.

Izu Chohachi Art Museum
The museum exhibits about 50 works by Chohachi Irie, a native of Matsuzaki who made a name for himself as a master plasterer in the Edo period. The building housing the museum was built by a group of talented plasterers from all over Japan, and has received the Isoya Yoshida Prize, the Architectural association's equivalent of the the Akutagawa Prize, and is attracting attention as a world-class architectural achievement.

Namakokabe Street
This is a street where you can see buildings with 'namako' traditional wall patterns, a rarity these days in Japan. Namako refers to the style in which roof tiles are stuck on walls and the joints are plastered like sea cucumbers ('namako' in Japanese) on the ocean floor . The town cherishes these relics and is actively engaged in preserving them.

Muroiwado
Muroiwado Cave is the site of a quarry where "Izu-ishi" (Izu stone) was quarried until around 1954. Izu-ishi is made of volcanic ash that fell to the sea floor when the Izu Peninsula was an undersea volcano. This ash over a long period of time transformed into tuff, which was valued as a soft, easy-to-process, fire-resistant stone.

Iwachi Beach
With its beautiful white sandy beaches and deep blue sea water, this popular spot is sometimes referred to as the "Cote d'Azur of the Orient." The spot is recommended for families with children because the waves are very calm. The boat-shaped free hot spring "Dazuriwachi" located in the middle of the beach allows bathing in a bathing clothe.

Terraced rice paddies in Ishibu
Located at the foot of the Jaishi Volcano, which erupted about 1.4 million years ago, these terraced rice paddies are piled with stones, a rare phenomenon in eastern Japan. The rice paddies are located at an elevation of 120 to 250 meters, covering 4.2 hectares (approximately 370 paddies). Suruga Bay can be seen below, and on clear days, Mt. Fuji
